Rissa’s phone signaled an incoming call as they were nearing the outskirts of Airway Heights. It was Lesa, and since Rissa’s phone was synced to the Lexus, Lesa’s voice was clearly audible to both her and Streak.

“Hey, Rissa,” Lesa said. “Just thought maybe you and Streak would appreciate a warning. Your supper here has kinda turned into a par-tay. Sorry, Billie said you didn’t want a fuss, but we mentioned you were coming, and things kinda…snowballed.”

“Snowballed like how?” Streak asked.

“Like everyone is here, and there may be a cake and stuff…you know.”

Streak and Rissa looked at each other. But it’s only Monday, she thought, as if that made a difference to a bunch of bikers and their women.

He shrugged, as if to say ‘what can we do?’.

“That is so sweet,” Rissa said. “We appreciate the warning, and we’ll be there in a few minutes. Ready to party.”

“Oh good,” Lesa said. “Okay, see you then.”

The call ended, and another song began. Streak groaned. “Once this bunch gets an idea, they roll with it,” he told Rissa. “So brace yourself.”

She laughed. “Consider me braced, handsome.”
